Blue Water Navy Vietnam Vets May Catch A Break
Vietnam veterans are still fighting for benefits more than 40 years after the Vietnam War. Millions of American soldiers were exposed to harmful herbicides during Vietnam resulting in serious health conditions. These veterans are still unable to get the benefits from the VA that they deserve. For this very reason Senators Gillibrand and Daines introduced the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2015. The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2015 says that not only can veterans receive compensation for Agent Orange exposure when they had “boots on the ground” but can also receive compensation if they were 12 miles off the shore of Vietnam. The struggle for the Vietnam veterans is that they did not necessarily have “boots on the ground” in Vietnam but were still exposed to the 20 million gallons of herbicides that were sprayed during the Vietnam War.
The side effects of Agent Orange exposure are serious and life changing. The veterans that served in the Vietnam War that were exposed to Agent Orange herbicides should be receiving the benefits they rightfully deserve from the VA.
